Molino Lamp

The Molino lamp is born from a memory. It is inspired by the windmill I grew up with as a child and climbed so many times.

Construction

Constructed with metal tubes and plastic joints, its shape subtly evokes the windmill that has never stopped turning.

The light points create a warm and enveloping illumination. It is not a single, flat light, but a small interplay of spotlights that brings life to the space.

Molino is a simple lamp, but with a story. An object that blends the everyday with the personal, designed to accompany and set the mood without drawing too much attention, yet leaving its mark.

After developing my first lamp, "Mallorquina", I considered various ideas for my next project. Since this first piece was born from nostalgia and memories, I wanted to maintain the same creative line.

As I observed my surroundings, I realized I was overlooking something very important: the windmill, built by my father over 30 years ago. Designed to extract water from a well, it has never stopped fulfilling its function since then.

You can see more of its story in this video.

After trying different methods to bend tubes, none proved practical, as I needed very tight angles, and for this tube diameter, it was impossible to achieve them. Therefore, I chose to make the elbows myself out of plastic. These integrate very well with the tubes, as they allow for a firm joint.

Before deciding whether to paint it or not, I also considered leaving it with an exposed aluminum finish, taking advantage of the industrial aesthetic. However, as the process progressed, I understood that it was necessary to restore and maintain the mill's characteristic green color. Beyond a simple aesthetic choice, preserving that color pays homage to the history and original character, keeping alive the essence that makes it recognizable and special.
