Mallorquina Lamp

The Mallorquina lamp is a designer lighting piece inspired by traditional Mediterranean louvered windows, created to bring warm and inviting atmospheres into the home.

Inspired by this iconic architectural element, the Mallorquina lamp is a signature piece that captures the calm rhythm of the Balearic lifestyle in a timeless object. Designed by Nosuke, it not only illuminates a space but also allows you to manually shape the light to suit different moods and moments.

Light control with adjustable louvers

True to its architectural heritage, the Mallorquina lamp features a system of movable louvers that lets you control the intensity and character of the light in an intuitive, hands-on way:

  • Closed position: light filters softly through the louvers, creating a warm, diffused glow reminiscent of Mediterranean sunsets.
  • Open position: light flows freely, providing clear, direct, and functional illumination.

Handcrafted in brushed aluminum

Each Mallorquina lamp is a handcrafted piece with a contemporary approach. Its metal surfaces are finished in brushed aluminum, offering a refined texture and subtle reflections. The result is a piece of industrial design with an artisanal soul, available exclusively at Nosuke Design.

Goes well with...

The idea for the lamp came after seeing how a candle reflected in wired glass and learning about Xlinespace 's "Panel Adjustable Wall Lamp." From then on, I began to have a false memory of that type of glass in my grandmother's house, which gave it a nostalgic touch that takes me back to my childhood.

I started by making some sketches to understand how the movement would work and how the light would look as it passed between the slats . Then I experimented with different materials until I found yellow wired glass, which I liked because it filters the light with a warm tone .

I made the structure out of aluminum to give it rigidity and to contrast with the color of the glass. The mechanism allows the slats to be raised or lowered, so the lamp can generate different intensities of light and shadows.

During the process, I had to adjust the joints so that the pieces moved smoothly and did not become misaligned. I also tested different light sources until I achieved uniform illumination.

By contacting local companies, I was able to get the aluminum panels laser cut and the glass assembled.

The final result is a lamp that combines cold and warm materials, and that allows you to interact with the light manually, as if it were a small window .
